DescriptionIn the 1930s and 1940s, California artist Ben Messick produced many California Scene paintings, drawings, watercolors and lithographs. He focused on scenes of everyday life that often included people at the center of the subject matter. This print is a lithograph, produced from a drawing Messick did directly on a Bavarian limestone lithographic plate with a grease pencil. The pre-production set up process and the actual printing was done by a professionally trained lithographer. Most of these prints were not numbered, but it is believed that only small numbers of each print were produced.
