DescriptionBen Messick was a prolific print maker in the 1930's and 1940's. He drew most of his images directly onto Bavarian Limestone plates, from which the prints would be made. According to the artist's widow, Velma Messick, this particular print captures a scene in a local downtown Los Angeles café where the locals hung out and where Ben Messick frequently ate.
