DescriptionCalifornia Scene artist Ben Messick was very interested in circus and amusement park activities and often visited those places for artistic inspiration. He was a prolific print maker in the 1930's and 1940's. He drew most of his images directly onto Bavarian Limestone plates, from which the prints would be made.
