DescriptionArtist's Statement: "I found these hard working cookie makers on a side street in Tokyo and took several photos. This painting is one of a series of four. I do not read Kanji but really liked its design aesthetics in conjunction with the oval red lanterns. Design-wise, the lanterns in the upper right echoed the worker's heads and the cookie shapes. This helped to unify the composition. Value-wise, the bright white cookie makers themselves become the focal point."
