DescriptionA view of L.A.’s now-vanished original Sixth Street Viaduct, seen through the eyes of Jake Lee, a highly influential California Scene painter, commercial artist and art teacher. Lee was born in Guangzhou, China and grew up in Monterey, Calif., studying art at San Jose State College and the Otis Art Institute. He and his fellow artist Dong Kingman were good friends and often painted together. Lee exhibited with the California Water Color Society, worked as an illustrator for children's books, designed magazine covers and product advertisements, and taught art at the Brandes Art Institute in Reseda.
