DescriptionThis print by Eyvind Earle, which the artist sent to Millier as a holiday card circa 1945, heralds his later unique style as a concept artist for Walt Disney Studios in the 1950s. Eyvind Earle -- artist, illustrator, author, poet, and recipient of the prestigious Disney Legend award -- is probably best known to the general public as the man responsible for the styling, color and backgrounds of Walt Disney’s feature animated film "Sleeping Beauty" (1959), giving that beloved classic its sumptuous and dazzling medieval look. But Earle was also a brilliant fine artist who created colorful landscapes, portraits, black-and-white prints, drawings and Christmas card designs throughout his life. Over his lifetime, Earle designed more than 800 Christmas cards; his popular card designs for his own press and several commercial companies have sold more than 300 million copies to date. On View
