DescriptionMissouri-born Mildred Bryant Brooks moved to Long Beach, California with her family in 1907. She studied art at the University of Southern California, where she was a student of Frank Tolles Chamberlin and studied the medium of etching with Arthur Millier. Finding etching as her forte, she produced her own works as well as those of other artists. One of her prints received top prize at the Chicago Society of Etchers exhibition in 1937 – the first time a woman artist was thus honored by the Society.
