DescriptionKonrad Klem was from the San Diego area and often produced California Scene Paintings depicting subject matter in that general locale. On occasion he painted along the highways heading East toward the Anza Borrego Desert. This is one of those paintings. During that era it was typical to see signage warning drivers of a last chance to fill up on gasoline before heading into the desert regions of California where there were no filling stations.
