DescriptionPrior to the building of the westbound freeway system, San Pedro Street was the main roadway connecting downtown Los Angeles with San Pedro. William Jekel worked in the motion picture industry and was influenced to use dramatic lighting, similar to that on movie sets, to evoke a certain mood that would be felt when viewing his fine art watercolors.
