DescriptionMark Hilbert: “Hardy Gramatky is probably best known to the public as the author of the children’s classic book Little Toot. But I chose three of his watercolors for this exhibition because he’s a fantastic watercolorist and all-around painter. He also worked at the Walt Disney Studio for six years in the 1930s, where he was an animator on many Mickey Mouse and other shorts. I love this painting of the beach at San Pedro, with its strong horizontals and the interesting scattering of figures on the beach.”
