DescriptionArtist Statement
"This work by celebrated female California Artist Vanessa Françoise Rothe depicts the California Coastline of 2023 with a unique areal perspective. Painted from a drone image, and years of knowledge from painting on location, Rothe has succeeded in capturing the beauty of the transparent turquoise sea that surrounds Laguna Beach with a modern day perspective. The areal drone shot, which this work was created from, is only possible in todays technology. It combines classical fine art and plein air style with a modern point if view. The colors in the cool blue ocean are more vibrant from this angle contrast with the warm ochre cliffs. The artists uses “dry brush” technique to suggest the spray of the water as it hits the rocks below in the foreground, as well as includes the iconic misty atmospheric perspective down the California coast looking north from the montage. It also includes the classic key hole in the rocks.”
