DescriptionEugene Clarence Wallin was born in Illinois and attended college at Pennsylvania State University. He moved to California to teach art – primarily watercolor classes -- at Long Beach State College. He painted in both oils and watercolors, but is best known for his “wet-into-wet” watercolor style, as shown in this work. Many of his most celebrated works were impressions of scenes in railroad yards or along railroad tracks, mostly painted from the 1940s through the 1960s and capturing the last days of the era of steam locomotives.
