Ashley has been an artist since she declared herself one at the age of five.

She grew up in Middlebury, Vermont and received her BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design.

Ashley is the author and/or illustrator of over 70 children’s picture books including "Who is Coming to Our House," "Baby Beluga," "Stella and Roy," "Baby Bear Sees Blue," "WILDFIRE!," "How to Help a Pumpkin Grow," "Compost Stew" and the beloved "Miss Bindergarten" series.

Ashley is currently on the faculty of Hollins University's MFA program in Children's Writing and Illustration.
