1919 - 1990
BiographyHenrietta Berk was born in Wichita, Kansas on January 9, 1919 and died in Oakland, California on January 15, 1990. Her family moved from Wichita to San Francisco when she was very young. Berk graduated from the Polytechnic High School in San Francisco and attended San Francisco State College and the California College of Arts and Crafts were she studied with Richard Diebenkorn and Harry Krell. Known for her use of bold colors. One of her paintings was shown in the 1967 movie "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" and hangs in the U.S. Embassy in Peru.
