Robin John Anderson
Robin John Anderson American Artist: b. 1951. Robin John Anderson was born in Phoenix, Arizona in 1951. Beginning at age fourteen, he studied for two years with Tibor Kalman, graduate of the Art Academy of Budapest. He worked in the engraving department for the Arizona Republic newspaper. In 1974, he made the decision to devote himself full-time to painting. In 1975, Anderson married Margo Mandette. From 1981-1990, the couple traveled to New York City regularly to study at the Art Students League. Robin also studied at the New York Academy of Art. Living in Scottsdale, Anderson developed his own style of painting which he named "Perceptionism", combining realism and impressionism. He was featured in Southwest Art magazine in 1989. In 1990 Anderson and Mandette opened a gallery in SoHo. He ran the New York gallery while she returned to run the galleries in Arizona during peak winter months.
