Bill Andersonborn 1941

Bill Anderson, who's a Huntington Beach resident and long time art educator known by countless students who took his courses throughout Southern California. Anderson's love of art and involvement with the art community in Huntington Beach includes a seat on the first arts board formed in Huntington Beach and efforts to shape Surf City into more or an art city, like Laguna Beach.

So popular are his works, Anderson has enjoyed traveling the world. And in his gallery, he's seen (though not recognized) more than one Hollywood celebrity and film star. His gallery space next to Captain Jack's seafood restaurant features the works of world renown artists who live in the region but are better known in New York, Europe, Spain and around the globe.

"Most of our clients do not come from Huntington Beach, Sunset Beach and Orange County," said owner and famous watercolor artist and teacher, Bill Anderson. He and his wife, Ausma, own the gallery in a building with Captain Jack's Seafood and Steak Restaurant in Sunset Beach. The Anderson Gallery held a reception for some of the world's great artists in 2005, featuring the works of five known artists in an exhibit called 420 Years of Creative Experience.

Featuring the works of Hitchkock, Zornes, Anderson and other internationally known and celebrated watercolorists and sculptors, prices at the gallery are much less than in other galleries because the artist sells his and other artists' works directly to the public. Original Zornes watercolor paintings, for instance, begin at only several hundred dollars but would cost over twice as much elsewhere. Bill Anderson, gallery owner, lives in Huntington Beach where he creates many of his paintings and sculptures. He has taught art at California State University Long Beach for many years and is featured in books that include the Who's Who of watercolor history.
