DescriptionArtist Statement: Susanna and I were spending the summer in Traverse City, Michigan. On a beautiful August Sunday, as we sat at our favorite restaurant, the sky turned angry, and a severe storm charged in without warning. Rapidly it turned day into night . . . the experience was intimidating yet breathtaking! My work is usually exclusively plein-air. However, in this case I worked from memory. It was an idea that rolled around in my head for almost 3 years before I created the painting.On View
