DescriptionArtist’s Statement: “Back around 2014 I would have dinner most Monday nights with my friends Mark Hilbert and Gordon McClelland. Some nights another artist, or someone else from the art world, would join us. We would discuss art exhibitions we had seen recently, and also plans that Mark had to found a museum. When I was a young boy, my family and I would go to the Crab Cooker Restaurant in Newport Beach, Calif. Both Mark’s and Gordon’s families had frequented the Crab Cooker in the past as well, so it was a natural place for us to have our Monday-night dinners. In this painting the three of us (center table) are enjoying a conversation and meal in 2016. Shortly after this painting was done, this original Crab Cooker Restaurant was torn down and rebuilt.”
