DescriptionDuring the mid-1950s the pioneer California Style watercolor artist Milford Zornes was being represented by the Desert Art Center Gallery in Palm Desert near Palm Springs. He had several one man shows of watercolors he produced depicting scenes in the area near Whitewater, at the foot of Mount San Jacinto and desert views along Highway 111 in the Coachella Valley. He also included works painted on location in the nearby Mojave Desert. This watercolor was one from the Mojave Desert series. From that time until he passed away, Zornes frequently returned to stark desert regions for artistic inspiration. He often drove between his home in Pomona and his second home in Mt. Carmel, Utah and nearly always stopped in the desert at least once on each driving trip to either paint or sketch. On View
