DescriptionThis watercolor was inspired by a scene Kosa viewed on a movie lot in the northern part of the San Fernando Valley. He frequently painted at that place with his close artist friend George Gibson. Most often, Western feature movies and TV programs were filmed on those lots. Kosa obviously thought a lot of this work, as he immediately sent it to New York to the National Academy annual exhibition and then to the American Watercolor Society annual exhibition, where it won a top award. In 1956 it traveled to exhibitions at the Springfield Museum in Utah and the Toledo Museum in Ohio before going to the Smithsonian Museum, where it was exhibited and traveled for one year on their touring exhibition of American art.
