DescriptionDanny Galieote worked for Disney Studios as a character animator during the ‘90s and early 2000s, and his work can be seen in The Lion King, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Tarzan, Princess and the Frog and Treasure Planet. He was born in Burbank, CA in the hospital right across the street from Disney Studios, and his fascination with art began at an early age and continued through his studies at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California Institute of the Arts and California State University Northridge. Through his 12 year career at Disney, Galieote quickly worked his way up from Assistant Animator to a fully-fledged Traditional (hand-drawn) Character Animator. He took frequent trips to Europe to study the great masters such as Michelangelo and Leonardo, and devoted himself to refining his fine-art craft. In 2011, he decided to leave his commercial art career and throw himself full-time into fine-art painting. His popular paintings draw upon the drama of the Italian Renaissance masters and the New-World optimism of American painters like Paul Cadmus, George Bellows, Thomas Hart Benton and Grant Wood – all wrapped up with a twist of Rockwellesque humor.
