DescriptionBorn in San Luis Obispo, Gene Francis learned the basics of painting from his artistic grandparents before obtaining a degree in business from Cal State Fullerton. He often paints nostalgic scenes of the American past, carefully researching the fashions and hairstyles of his human subjects. Here, on a snowy evening, passengers huddle in groups at a train station, waiting for their visitors to disembark -- or to embark, themselves, upon a railway journey.
