DescriptionErle Loran and James McCray were both art professors at UC Berkeley and often went out painting together on location. Loran was the author of a very well known art book called Cezanne’s Composition and he was known all over the world as an expert on Cezanne and his innovative approaches to producing modern art. The design elements on both of these watercolors reflect the influence Cezanne’s ideas about compositional structure of art had on both Loran and also on this type of 1970s art by McCray. On View
