DescriptionThe awesome power of nature is on full display in this watercolor by Nat Levy. Levy was born and raised in San Francisco and, after high school, studied art with Maynard Dixon and Armin Hansen, among others. By the 1920s he was an expert watercolorist and exhibited professionally from then on. In addition to being one of the original members of the “Thirteen Watercolorists” group of prominent California painters, he was an early member of the Society of Western Artists and was the society’s president in 1955. Throughout the years he taught watercolor painting and produced illustrations, poster designs and prints. He also traveled and painted in New England, Europe and the Far East.On View
