DescriptionA noted background painter for the Friz Freleng unit of Chuck Jones’s classic Loony Tunes cartoons at Warner Bros, Irv Wyner was known for his intense, almost radical colors and strongly stylized forms. His fine art took a similar path; his landscapes often featured brilliantly colored, toy-like farms seen in slanting light and from an aerial perspective, backed by dramatic skyscapes. Something vaguely ominous almost always seems to be lurking in the atmosphere of a Wyner painting, usually in the form of a turbulent or darkening sky or an approaching storm. Wyner went on to work for Disney’s "Disneyland" television series and for "Woody Woodpecker" creator Walter Lantz.
