DescriptionJack Laycox spent a lot of time in downtown San Francisco, and it was the inspiration for this work. His oil paintings were often produced using a combination of brushes and palette knives, small trowel-like tools used to mix paint on the palette - in some cases, painters use these knives instead of paintbrushes to achieve a different surface texture. To a large extent, Laycox's personal painting language was a result of combining both brush and palette knife techniques for applying oil paint to canvas. On View
